The murder on Mr Ratchett

Everyone on this train are scared, a murderer is onboard. The most of us are very sad because Mr Ratchett is killed, except Countess Helena André and Conductor Luis Henry, they are the murderers.

At the evening, when we ate, I sat with the Swedish lady, Greta Ohlsson, Mr Hardman and Mr Foscarelli. I didn't know anybody on the train but I had some conversations with Colonel Arthur because I hadn't anyone to talk to. We did not talk about anything serious, so nobody needs to suspect anything. The same thing goes for when I and Greta Ohlsson were upset when the train didn't roll, she would be late because she is about to see her sister and I would also be late and i will miss my train to London.

I went to bed after the dinner and I read for a while. Miss Ohlsson went to Mrs Hubbard to fetch aspirin at half past ten and she came back after five minutes. I fell asleep and I slept the whole night without hearing anything but then I went to the toilet, about five o’clock. But then I heard some moaning and I summoned the conductor. He went to see where the noise came from. He came back to me and told me that I should not worry. But the fact that the noise came from Countess Helena Andrés room made me suspectful because she said that she would take a glass with sleeping draught so she could sleep the whole night without waking up.
After my toilet visit I went back to my cabin and miss Ohlsson was sleeping. The conductor said that it was nothing to worry about. When he left my room I taught that ”if he didn't want to tell me what it was then I will take this in my own hands and see whats going on”. I went out and walked slowly to Countess Helenes cabin and I heard her crying. I stopped outside her door and her door were open. I looked and saw her all covered up in blood. My heart almost stopped when I saw the mess, what should I do? A second later I decided to walk in and help her with the mess, I regret that now, I helped a murderer. We were stressed so we walked into mr Ratchetts room and there he was, lying in the bed, covered in blood. We opened the window so they would think that he ran out of the window and took everything that could be used as evidence. We cleaned up Countess Helenes room and herself. When we had finished cleaning we had some discussion. I asked her why she killed him and she told me that she and the conductor were together before and that mr Ratchett tried to destroy their relationship by telling the conductor that Helena was cheating on him. Mr Ratchett taught that he would win Helenas heart. But he didn’t. He got mad and tried to kill Helena. And now they were on the same train and he threaten the conductor. Mr Ratchett told him that he would kill him if he still tried to be with Helena. So they decided to kill him when everyone was asleep.
After the conversation I said goodnight and went back to my cabin. I fell asleep. A few hours later I woke up because everyone were screaming. I understood why everyone were screaming, Mr Ratchett was killed and I helped to cover it up. When I asked Greta what happened she told me that Mr Ratchett was killed and that they have founded evidence.
What could it be? We cleaned everything up?

But Greta said that they found a fine handkerchief with the letter "H" embroidered on it and a pipe cleaner, but Mr Ratchett doesn't smoke the pipe. I knew that the letter H stood for ”Helena” and that the pipe cleaner was hers, I just hoped that nobody would understand that it was hers…

A day with Beyonce

The 22nd March 2012 I went for a walk with my dog. It was a cold and rainy day and I walked with my headphones plugged in my ears when I suddenly bumped into a woman. I got so chocked, not because I bumped into a person, because I bumped into Beyonce. My favorite singer of all time! I panicked a little and I didn't know what to do. She said ”oh, it’s fine, you don't have to worry.”
She asked what my name is and how old I am and so on. I couldn't answer because I was chocked. Beyonce asked me if I wanted to follow her to her hotel room and be there for a while, until the storm calmed down a little. Without doubt I walked with her.
When we came to the room she asked me if I like music and if I like to write my own lyrics. I told her that I love music and that I wrote a lot of lyrics. Beyonce wanted to hear me sing my lyrics. I didn't want to because I was ashamed of my lyrics but I did it anyway, today I’m happy that I sung because one of her biggest hits today ”Crazy In Love” is one of my lyrics!
After that she invited me to a dinner with her husband, Jay-Z and her daughter Blue-Ivy. We ate Italian food in a wonderful restaurant. When we were on our way home she asked me if I would like to follow her to New York to go on her concert, backstage! I couldn't resist so we went to the airport and flew to New York. We checked in at the hotel, 5 star of course and then we ate at the most expensive restaurant in New York and then we went on her concert where she performed my song, ”Crazy In Love”.

The next morning we ate a mighty breakfast and I had to say goodbye, I flew back to Sweden and when I went to the school next morning, no one believed in my story, but I knew, I knew that I didn't lie.

Engelska läxa v.40

What is your favorite song? Why?
I listen to different types of songs, and I have different favorites from different categories. My favorite song from the ”Balkan” type of music is ”Kavali” by Rasta. When I listen to this song I always get in a happy mood, maybe because it’s a catchy song, and the lyrics are about love. He sings that ”it doesn’t matter if I have a fancy car, a big house or much money if you aint my girl” and so on.
I listen to hiphop/ RnB and my favorite song from that category is ”Only” by Nicki Minaj, Drake, Chris Brown and Lil Wayne. The lyrics aren't that appropriate because they swear very much. But this song is a ”chill song” with much base and my favorite singers sing the song together, could it be better?
I also listen to pop and my favorite song there are ”Perfect strangers”. This song reminds me of a trip to Croatia with my team. We got to know a lot of new people and we had so much fun together, we didn't even knew each other but we had the best week at the whole summer break.
The last song and last category I’ll talk about is ”Swedish hip/hop”. My favorite song there is ”shu katt” by Dani M and Linda Pira. This song is a song that everyone knows. And it a catchy song and my favorite Swedish singer is singing, Dani M.

Who is your favorite artist? Why?
Dani M, Gee Dixon and Mwuana are the Swedish singers I like the most. They have good and catchy songs, and they have a good voice.
Nicki Minaj, Beyonce and Drake are my English favorites. Beyonce is my biggest favorite, I’ve loved her since I was like 10 years old. She has this beautiful voice, even when she performs live, it sound like the records! My biggest dream is to go on a concert. I even watch clips of her performances, she’s so good that I get shivers.
The Nicki Minaj obsession came a little while later when I was about 13-14 years old. In my world she’s the best female rapper. Her songs never gets old and she has a beautiful voice as herself.
Drake is my favorite male raper. He has this amazing voice and meaningful songs. When I listen to him I always get on a better mood.

Has your taste in music changed since you were in the seventh grade? If so, in what way and
why?
No, not so much. I like the same singers. The only thing that has changed is that I listen more to Swedish rap. I started to like Dani M and then I just find these other singers and I just love theirs music!

Do you listen to the lyrics (låttexter)? Are they important? Why/Why not?
Yes. As I mentioned above, I always listen to the lyrics. I love when the lyrics reflect my life.

I think that the lyrics is important because then the song has a meaning, maybe for the singer or a group of people.

Mojo 2:3

How does it feel to escape the dip? Can you have more than one dip?
To escape a dip feels like a relief. You solved a problem you thought you never would solve. You feel like a champion!
You can have a dip after a dip or a several dips at the same time.

Often we want to be the best at what we are doing. Instead of comparing our success with others, what kind of attitude can we have?
We should never, ever comparing us to other people. We should instead comparing us with ourselves.

In the video, Mojomus Edison says that failing is "learning new ways to improve." What does that mean?

He means that if you make a mistake you have to learn how to solve the problem and when you solved the problem you have to improve to make it right again.

Mojo 2:2

What should you do when you make a mistake?
If you make a mistake you should learn from it. If you do a mistake you should remember what you did wrong and the next time you remember what you did wrong. If you know what you did wrong you don't do the same mistake again.

What will happen if you continue to repeat this process? Try using the word "neuron" in your explanation!
If you keep on fighting, even if you do some mistakes your neurons in your brain gets stronger and stronger.

So how do we escape the dip?

You have to learn from your mistakes and keep on fighting against the problems. You can’t let the problems and mistakes break you and your confidence. Cause if the problems breaks you, then you will encounter a dip, which you are avoiding.

Mojo 2:1

What is a dip?
When you start with a project you are exited and you can't wait until you succeed. But then the journey isn’t easy and you get frustrated and you think that you should just quit. That’s when you know that you are in a dip.

Where/what situations might we encounter a dip in?
If you feel that something is hard or you are forced to do something like a project in school that you don't find interesting then you can encounter a dip.

What kind of emotions accompany a dip, and how can we stay positive?

A dip can make you feel angry and sad. You can be angry with yourself because you can’t do the thing or you feel worthless because everyone else can the thing except you. To stay happy we could to things that make us happy. I like to go to handball-trainings to clear my mind and when  I come back I have new power to finish my work.

Mojo 1:5

What does it feel like when something is too challenging? Is it wrong that we feel this way?
It’s a terrible feeling. When I find something too challenging I often start too cry because it feels like I’m never going to finish that thing. It’s really frustrating.

What kind of attitude should we take on when facing a challenge, and why is that important?
We should think that if you do something challenging your neurons change their way to be wired.

When taking on a challenge, it's okay to ask for help or to take a break to reflect, like Mojo did! Does this mean we aren't growing our brain anymore?

No, I think that’s okay. You have to take a break from your homework or the challenging thing you work on because you clear your mind.

Mojo 1:4

What are neurons and how do we make connections between our neurons?
Your brain is made of tiny bits called neurons and when the neurons connect they send electrical signals back and forth to talk to each other. Everything you do only happens because your neurons connect. You have the power to change how your neurons are wired together and then you learn things you never thought you could do. The only way to do this is by learning challenging things.

Think of an example where you made some new connections in your brain. What were you doing?
I mentioned this moment in an other text and it was when I had music and we should play guitar. I was very exited and I thought that I would learn and play the whole song without skipping chords. But it didn’t work at all. I said to myself that this wouldn't work. So the whole music lessons I just sat on my chair and talk to my friends without trying. I started to come later to the music lessons, I ate sandwiches at the school cafe. But then my teacher said that I have to focus. And so I did. I came just in time, I didn't talk to anyone while music class and at the and I learned to play the whole song without skipping any chords.

What can you do this week to make some new connections? Set one specific goal.
I will do my homeworks in time and do it detailed so I’ll get higher grades.

Mojo third episode

What should you do if you are stuck on a project, math problem, or other learning?
When I get stuck on a Math problem I try do solve it until I get the right answer. Then if it doesn't work I like to ask a smart friend or a teacher.

Think of a time you were afraid to ask for help. Why did you feel afraid?
Once we had like English or something like that and we had a discussion in class. And we read a book that I didn't understand. And there were some word I didn't understand and I felt like I was stupid for not knowing these words. It felt like everyone else knew the meaning of the words. But then I asked my friend and she didn't understand it either and then we asked the teacher and in the end there was like 12 people that didn't know the meaning of the words.

Why is the word "yet" so powerful? Think of a "yet" moment in your life and describe it.
The word yet is powerful because it you don't know the thing yet. But if you work on it and try over and over again you will learn.

One "yet" moment in my life is when I couldn't play guitar and I thought that I would never, NEVER learn. But when I had the chance to play guitar, I did. And one day I could play the whole song without skipping any chords.

Mojo second episode

What does the quote from the video, "mistakes can make you smarter" mean to you?
It means that mistakes make you understand what you did wrong so the next time you do it you should remember what you did wrong and do it better this time.

How can we learn from our mistakes? Talk about a specific, recent example.
I play handball so if i do a mistake like not attacking the ball then my trainer tells me what I did wrong and the next time I try to attack the ball and I often succeed.

If you were building a robot and kept "failing,” what would you do?
I would smash it into the wall.

Mojo first episode

Why does Mojo want to leave school? Can you sometimes relate to how Mojo is feeling?
Mojo feels that he isn't good enough. When he started school he loved Math and he was good at it too. But Math got harder and he felt that he wasn't as good as he was in the beginning.
I can relate to Mojos feeling. Sometimes when it’s too much work in school I would like to disappear. And the problem is when I get too much homework I don't do anything because I'm stressed out.

What does Katie say to Mojo to convince him not to leave?
She tells him that his brain is like a muscle and that anyone could be smart if the person tries.

Do you think Mojo can become smarter? Why or why not?
I think he actually did. Because in the end he seemed to get better motivation for school. And I think he got better and became smarter.

What subject do you feel frustrated by sometimes? Can you see yourself becoming smarter in that subject? How?
I feel frustrated by Social Science because sometimes we get too many questions to answer in a short time. It feels like the teacher forgets that we have other lessons too. And I can’t concentrate that well in school so it ends up really bad. Then I run out of time in school and I have to to it at home.

Reading journal week 21

Stone cold week 21
I read from page 25 to 58 and here I met a new character called Ginger and I got some more information about Shelter.

In the beginning Links plan was to get a place to sleep and then get a job. Link got a bed but for two weeks. Then he leaved the place and he is trying to find an another place to sleep at. Link didn’t have any money so he found a deep doorway and sat there for two hours. Then he got up for a walk and when he returned there was another homeless man laying in the doorway, he grabbed Links arm and took his watch. After that Link found a new doorway where he could stay, and try to sleep. But when link was trying to sleep, there came an another homeless guy who was friendly to Link. They both fell asleep and they woke up by two policemen right in front of them. Link and Ginger had to leave the doorway and they went to an all-night kebab house which Ginger knew.
When the clock turned 6 am they went to a church where it was warm and dry.

The man called Shelter is a man who has the mission to ”clean up” the streets. He wants to help the homeless but he want to make it safer on the streets. And he thinks that the best way to get rid of the homeless is to kill them. And because Shelter is an old solider he thinks that if he is a solider it isn’t a murder.

Shelter is planning to kill a homeless woman that he found in the city. He gave her some tomato soup and asked her if she need a bed to sleep in.

For Christmas he got a sleeping bag.

Shelter is the man who is giving shelter to the street people.
I have not so much information about him.

Adventures of a Backpacker

To: Mum and dad
From: Aisa and Ainun

Dear mum and dad,
I’m sorry that I haven't sent you messages before. We have been so busy! It’s so much to visit and to see here that I have no time to write emails and so on. The wifi is also really bad here at the hotel room.

When we landed in Sydney we were really tired, it took us 19 hours to flight to Sydney, I don’t know how we made it. It was really boring at the flight, just watching movies and listening to music in 19 hours.

The first two days we just lay in bed all day and ordered food to the hotel room. We had to sleep after the long flight. We have been here for six days and have done a lot these six days.

First we visited the Bondi beach in east Sydney, near our hotel. We tried surfing for the first time and it was AWSOME!! So much fun, we laughed all the time and we are going to this again some day! After that we lay on the beach all day and then returned to the hotel room and took a shower and ordered food to the room. Then we went out to a club called ”World bar”. It was fun and we danced all night long.

Then the day after we took the bus to the Northern Territory. We visited the Uluru rock and it was really cool, but so hot weather. Then we took the bus home. And I promise it was not a short trip to see a rock, it was about 5 hours bus ride.

The next day we went to the Fraser island by bus. It took us 5 hours and we slept the whole ride. When we arrived we went to a camping place where we should stay overnight. It was a little tent. We started the day by riding a four wheel. After that we went on a canoeing ride, it was so fun! We fell like hundred times and we laughed all the time, as usual. Then we got back to our tent and made som food over fire. In the evening we went fishing because you have to do that when you are at the fraser island. Late at night we fell asleep around the fire after telling each other some ghost stories.
The next day we woke up and packed our things and left the camping place. We took the bus home and we slept the whole ride. When we arrived at our hotel we lay in the bed and put on a movie and ordered some hamburgers and french fries, yummy!

Today it’s the seventh day and it’s a week left. And we planned to go to the mall and do some shopping. It’s early in the morning and we are going to eat breakfast soon.

I miss you both so much, I love you!

Kisses Aisa and Ainun
